The best thing you can do is bring someone in before you buy the house or before you move in to inspect and run some indoor air quality testing checks – it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Although an older house can be pretty may be cheaper to buy initially, but they can be pretty expensive to run. This is because they may not be as well insulated as modern homes, so things like heat will escape faster through windows, walls, and floors. Your monthly costs like heating, water, gas, and electric could also be much higher, so it’s definitely worth seeing what you can do in order to prevent these costs from going too high.

Obviously, modern houses are going to be built to a different standard when it comes to things like appliances – especially those things that affect the environment, not just because there are legal regulations in place, but because most companies do want to build things that are more eco-friendly. However, older homes won’t have these things in place unless they’ve recently been renovated to include them, so you should definitely check how you can make your house more eco-friendly and how much it will cost to upgrade things like this before buying the house or moving in.
