No I didn’t win an Oscar lol, I wish I did lol. A few weeks ago I was nominated for a Blogger Recognition Award by Oriana, she has a very refreshing blog, so make sure you stop by and subscribe to her blog!!!
How I Started One Millennial Girl
You can read more about it here, but long story short, I started it the same day I was fired from my blogging job (February 3, 2016). One Millennial Girl was born out of frustration and a need to express myself creatively with total control and freedom. It was and still is an outlet for me.
Advice for new bloggers
I recently had a new blogger ask me for advice and I think I went a little overboard so I’m going to keep this short and simple and I’ll give 3 pieces of advice instead of 2:
Engage, Engage, Engage!!!
Engagement is key! Put that love out there by genuinely supporting your fellow bloggers and the love comes back tenfold. People look at blogging as if it’s Instagram or Twitter where it looks better to have more followers than the number of people you’re following. With blogging that doesn’t really matter. Don’t be afraid to connect with people.
Patience
I knew starting out that I wouldn’t get to 1000 followers overnight. It took me an entire year to get to 600 followers. Be patient when it comes to getting followers and getting people to read your blog posts. The more you engage with other people the more those stats will increase.
Be Strategic
Focus on why you’re doing this and cater to that. If you feed what you love, it will grow. To keep your blog fresh, you have to have some sort of plan whether it’s the frequency and timing of posting your blogs, or the types of blogs you will post (an editorial calendar helps with this), or testing out which social media networks are effective for promoting your posts.
Bonus: Have fun
This is the most important piece of advice I can give. Have fun with your blog. Don’t sweat the technical stuff, just do what feels right to you and enjoy every bit of the ride.
And The Nominees Are: (No La La Land – Moonlight situation here)
The rules to follow if you’re nominated :
