When I heard my cousin was getting married on a Thursday, I had a lot of mixed emotions. I was happy for him, but I didn’t want to take a PTO day from work. Plus, I was wondering what do you wear to a weekday wedding? I was ready to get all dolled up, but I started to really think about it as a stylist. This is a Thursday wedding at 1:30 in the afternoon, it’s going to be a very small country church wedding in Newnan, GA. I had to find the balance being me and knowing what’s appropriate for the time, day, and location of the occasion.
I ordered 2 dress options from A’Gaci, I opened the box to find both dresses had holes in them. A’Gaci was understanding and helpful with getting the return handled, but I wasn’t going to take another chance with them as the wedding date was getting closer and closer. The Friday before the wedding I rush ordered a “Final Sale” dress from Eloquii. I received it that Tuesday and unfortunately it was very ill fitting (as a courtesy they allowed me to return it). I started scrambling to find something to wear. Torrid didn’t have anything worth buying (they are seriously over doing it with the floral patterns), so Lane Bryant would be my last resort. The selection was meh, but I came across this skirt and I immediately knew how I wanted to style it.
I wanted to keep it simple and clean – a white button down blouse and some black pointed toe flats. To bring a bit of personality to the look, I put on my leather jacket to give it some edge and I opted for a bold red lip (Red Rose – Lime Crime). I ended up being the most overdressed person at the wedding, but I’m really happy with how the look turned out!
Very nice 😊
